ABSOLUTELY NOT! If you are a beginner, don't touch this book. Nowhere in the book does it show you how to actually USE SNMP practically. It does throw out some code here and there, but doesn't explain how or why the code works...let alone the most important part...how to implement it. It's just code by itself sitting there. This book may be a good reference for the experienced, but all it is is definitions of the different parts of SNMP. Big waste of time and money for a beginner.
